Simon Heapy Co-Authors the Dictionary of the
Court of Protection 2025
We are delighted to share the news that our Consultant Solicitor Simon Heapy has co-authored the recently published Dictionary of the Court of Protection 2025 – an updated resource for practitioners working in this complex area of law. Simon was invited to co-author the Dictionary which he contributed to alongside other well renowned experts including Her Honour Judge Carolyn Hilder, District Judge Lisa Clarke, District Judge Mark Mullins, Gemma Daly (barrister and mediator), Lee Parkhill (barrister) and Kriti Upadhyay (barrister).
Published by Class Legal, the Dictionary of the Court of Protection 2025 is a practical reference guide containing over 125 entries which are arranged from A to Z with helpful cross-references to related topics. Each entry explains the key points of law, important cases, and provides practical guidance in a clear way for professionals, families and anyone else who may be involved in Court of Protection matters. The Dictionary covers both welfare and property and financial affairs cases.
Simon’s contributions to the Dictionary reflects his expertise in mental capacity law and property and financial affairs cases. He regularly advises on deputyship applications, statutory wills, and other types of specialist applications to the Court of Protection bringing his practical experience and clear thinking to his contributions in the Dictionary.

Throughout his legal career, Simon has developed a strong reputation for his specialist work in the Court of Protection through his ability to help clients navigate what can often be challenging and emotional circumstances with sensitivity and care.
In addition to advising individuals and families on applications to the Court of Protection, Simon is often instructed by other law firms as an expert witness. This involves him preparing Part 35 expert reports for the Court in clinical negligence and personal injury claims requiring him to set out his legal opinion on the likely costs of a deputyship.
