Verifying Identity

ID1 and ID2 forms are official documents required by HM Land Registry to confirm the identity of individuals (ID1) and corporate bodies (ID2) involved in property transactions such as transfers.

ID1 forms

Certificate of identity for a private individual (known as ID1 from the name of the form) is often used to verify the identity of individuals when making applications to the Land Registry

Certificate of identity for a corporate body such as a limited company is often used to verify identity when making applications to the Land Registry

These forms are usually required for the following:

  • A company or LLP is involved in a property transaction
  • A director or authorised signatory is acting on behalf of the business

This identity verification is known as ID2 from the name of the form.
